A Second Chance

Luke 13:6-9
But the servant answered, “Master, let the tree have one more year to produce fruit. Let me dig up the dirt around it and put on some fertilizer”.
Luke 13:8, NCV

I believe many of us can identify the moral lessons in the parable we read today. The hard truth is that many of us
have been unfaithful and unproductive in the way we live.

We are like the vineyard that God has given everything we have gifts and talents, education and experience, influence and affluence but we have not dutifully deployed them to bless others, make an impact in the kingdom and for humanity.

The owner of the vineyard came for fruits but found none. Thank God for the vinedresser who pleaded saying,
“Master, let the tree have one more year to produce fruit. Let me dig up the dirt around it and put on some fertilizer”
(Luke 13:8, NCV).

The Holy Spirit is the vinedresser. He pleads for us before the Father to give us more time to work, serve Him and
have treasures in heaven. You and I have been offered a second chance. What are we going to do about this? We
have been given the power of the Holy Spirit and His anointing. Let’s use them to bless our world. Jesus lived a
fruitful life. We must do the same. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Are you a barren or a fruitful fig tree?
  • Pray for grace and wisdom to work so that you will not disappoint the Father, the vineyard owner.

Hymn: Make me a channel of blessing.
