Citizens Of Heaven

Philippians 3: 17-21
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20).

Today’s Bible passage intimates us with the dos and don’ts of the citizens of heaven. It presents the paradigm shift that God expects to take place in our heart as we journey through life expecting to meet with our Savior in the end. From the passage we could see that citizens of heaven do not:

1. Allow their emotions to rule and control them. The rule is: Because it feels good does not mean that it is good.
2. Citizens of heaven do not take pride in wrong doing and their weaknesses. When sin is committed, we must confess and repent of it.
3. They do not set their minds on earthly things. They do not chase things; their belly must not be their god. Greed is not part of the believer’s life.

However, citizens of heaven:

1. Look forward to the hope of eternal life -Jesus Christ- in heaven.
2. Continue to think of a beautiful, peaceful and glorious time with the Father in the end of the age.
3. Citizens of heaven focus on heavenly things. They mind the things that God mind. They seek to please God in every way and represent Him well on earth.

Friend, look at this passage again and gain understanding. There is more in heaven with God than what the world and Satan have to offer us here on earth. Shalom.
