Boaz: A Man Of Integrity

Ruth 3:7-13
If he does not wish to take care of you, then, I solemnly swear, as the LORD lives, I will take care of you myself. Lie down until morning (Ruth 3:13, God’s Word Translation).

Boaz’s personality and character deserve our attention. He displayed godliness, gentleness, kindness and integrity in this book. He never at any time took advantage of Ruth’s circumstance or that of his servants as we saw in Chapters Two and Three.

His other qualities include honesty and openness. He understood the law and was willing to go by it. This is the kind of man we need in our society. Although, it appears Boaz  was richer and might be had more influence than the other close relative yet he was willing to let go of Ruth. He had no attachment despite all that he had done for Ruth. It is  possible that he had developed a likeness for her while she worked in his farm, yet he did not allow that to becloud his judgment. His strength and love was under control.

He told Ruth, “It is true that I am a close relative of yours, but there is a relative closer than I. Stay here tonight. In the morning if he will agree to take care of you, that is good.  He can take care of you. But if he does not wish to take care of you, then, I solemnly swear, as the LORD lives, I will take care of you myself” (Ruth 3:12-1, God’s Word  Translation). May the Lord give us men of character who will stand by the truth in our homes and nation in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
