Contending For One Another

Colossians 2:1-5
I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally… (Colossians 2:1, NIV).

Today, we will begin a three-day prayer. We will pray for the church and contend in prayer for one another as we focus on the words of Paul in the passage we read. Paul contended for the Colossians that “they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding” (Colossians 2:2, NIV). Let us use this verse to pray. May the King hear us when we pray.

  1. Thank God for the opportunity to know Him and come into His presence.
  2. Present the token of the blood of Jesus on the altar and ask the Lord to see us through the blood of the Lamb.
  3. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to pray for the body of Christ in your local church, city and the world at large.
  4. Pray that the church will be encouraged in the face of the attacks and persecutions that are ongoing in the world.
  5. Pray for those who have lost families to insurgence around the world.
  6. Pray that we will be united in love irrespective of our denominational differences.
  7. Pray for church leaders to understand that we are fighting a common enemy so that we can stand strong together.
  8. Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit in our churches.
  9. Pray for wisdom for believers as we seek to influence our cities for God.
  10. Thank God for answered prayers.

Your Turn

  • Thank God for what He has done through our prayers.

Song: He is exalted. The King is exalted and I will praise His name.
