The Oppressor Will Be Judged
Isaiah 10:5-19
By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I am prudent; Also I have removed the
boundaries of the people, and have robbed their treasuries; So I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man.
Isaiah 10:13.
God promised to judge the oppressor, Assyria; because they did not acknowledge the Lord in all that they did. For
Assyrians, they thought they were the ones who initiated the attacks and removed the kings and conquered the lands they took. They failed to acknowledge the Lord as the One who worked through them.
Not only that, they went about boasting and did more than God wanted them to do. Verse 13 reveals, “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I am prudent; Also, I have removed the boundaries of the people, and have robbed their treasuries; So I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man” (Isaiah 10:13).
But God answered saying, “Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it? … the Lord of hosts, will send leanness among his fat ones; and under his glory He will kindle a burning like the burning of a fire” (Isaiah 10:15-16).
Let us be careful when others are being punished around you or going through trials and temptations. You do not know who is next. The best we can do is to pray and intercede on their behalf. If the Lord permits you, reach out to them. Life is too short, and things happened. May the Lord expand these words in your heart. Shalom.
