Hope Of Eternity

John 14:1-6
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2).

Yesterday we concluded our devotional thoughts on the need to be committed and stay focused on our life
assignments. Today, we will explore why the saints of old were able to focus on their assignment.

One of my answers is their sustained hope of eternity with God. The Scripture says, “He (God) has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). For eternity to gain our attention, we must feed it with hope. Yes, eternity has been placed in our hearts, but we must look forward to it.

You see, what would make one to suffer persecution; attacks and the other negative things that troubled times bring with it and stand firm for God? It is because they have an expectation of something better. For me, whenever I need hope and encouragement I always go to the end of the Bible. The book of Revelation helps me to know that it would end well for believers in Christ. See Revelation 21: 1- 5.

The Scriptures help me to know that what Jesus said about His father and heaven are true and reliable. Knowing I have a heaven to look forward to and a place with the father in the end continues to help me to choose to stand for Him. What is your hope? How are you sustaining it? Let us pray.

Your Turn

  • Pray for yourself.
  • Pray for the grace to be a believer that holds on to God and His purpose at all time.

Hymn: Stand up stand up for Jesus.
