Be Watchful

1 Peter 5:1-9
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for
someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8, NLT).

Friend, the enemy we are fighting is not stupid. He is cunning and dangerous. If he cannot get you now, he will wait for another opportune time. The devil tempted Jesus, he will tempt us too.

When he tempted Jesus, the Scripture says, “Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time” (Luke 4:13). That is why Paul warned us saying, “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).

You see, we cannot afford to be sloppy in our walk with God. We cannot afford to be overconfident. We cannot afford to think we are untouchable by the enemy. Rather, let your word be, “By the grace o f God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:10).

When tempted, let your prayers be:

“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will
make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by” (Psalm 57:1 2). Let your
prayers be: “Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust”
(Psalm 16:1)”.

May the King hear us when we pray. May the Lord infuse our hearts with holy fear for Him and with faith to stay with Him in Jesus Name. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Pray for yourself, and fellow believers to stand for Christ in this troubled time.
  • Thank God for the provisions He has made to keep us safe.
