Expected Duties In Troubled Times
Daniel 6:1-17
And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime (Daniel 6:10, ASV).
We will continue to glean divine truths from the life of Daniel and several portions of the Scriptures as we look at the
duties and actions that are expected of us in troubled times.
1. Continuous intimacy with the Lord: As detailed in the passage we read, we can see that Daniel maintained his
fellowship and intimacy with the Lord. He refused to be intimidated by the hatred of men and the possible penalty
of disobeying the ungodly law that was propagated.
The Bible says, “And when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime (Daniel 6:10, ASV).
Friend, Daniel knew that the law had been signed and could not be altered. Yet, he went home to do the needful. This is a lesson for us. In the time of difficulty, prayer and fellowship are the most needful. They are the first antidote to satanic attacks.
Jesus told Martha that sitting at his feet to learn from Him is the most needful (See Luke 10:38-42). Hear this: When you are faced with persecution and trouble, please do not give up on God and prayer. Run to God and let Him defend you. He will not abandon you (Psalm 46:1). Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for His faithfulness and how He has stood by His saints in the past.
- Pray and ask the Lord to stand by you in the time of trouble.
