Call On God
Psalm 55:1-23
Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help! (Psalm 55:1, NLT).
Glory and Ann grew up in the same village and moved to the city to share a flat. In the course of time, Ann got a
better job and decided to move out of the flat. She felt she could no longer live in the suburb of the town and was not
willing to move with Glory.
Glory felt bad but decided to let go. She took her case to the Lord. Today’s psalm was her favorite as she cried out to the Lord to change her story too. Friend, we will be betrayed many times by close associates and friends too. We must not be surprised. It is part of life. Remember that the same God that says, “Vengeance is mine” is still on the throne. Don’t be bitter and annoyed. Call on God.
The psalmist says, “Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help! Please listen and answer me, for I am
overwhelmed by my troubles. My enemies shout at me, making loud and wicked threats. They bring trouble on me
and angrily hunt me down” (Psalm 55:1- 3, NLT). David took his case to God. He did not hide his feelings and emotions.
Let us do the same. Express your hearts and hurts before the Lord. Friend, be familiar with this type of psalms. You will find them handy in the course of the year. Shalom.
