He Chose To Die

Matthew 27:45-54
Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last (Luke 23:46, NIV).

The beauty of today might have been lost to the world but to us it is a special day. In many countries, it is a holiday. People go out, shop and play but to us, we celebrate the reason for the holiday: Jesus Christ, the Savior of the whole world.

Today reminds us of the fact that Jesus died to set us free from our captivity to sin, satan and death. He came and paid the ultimate price: Death on the cross. He did not stop there but took His blood into the presence of the Father as atonement for our sins so that we can be forgiven, cleansed once and for all. See Hebrews 10:8-10.

No religious leader dead or alive has been able to replicate what Jesus Christ did for us. What the enemy thought was the end became the beginning of a new dawn -The raising of a new generation of worshippers for the Lord Almighty. That is why we call it “Good Friday” and not “bad Friday”.

The Bible says, “When He had cried out again with a loud voice, yielded up His spirit …  And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked…” (Matthew 27: 50-51). He gave His life for us willingly. Friend, appreciate Jesus Christ today and thank Him for all He has done for us.
