Make A Smoke
Leviticus 16:11-14
And he shall put the incense on the fire before the Lord, that the cloud of incense may cover the mercy seat … (Leviticus 16:13).
The art of worship is the art of making smoke. It creates the atmosphere of His presence which causes the rain of His anointing to fall on us.
The psalmist says God inhabits the praise of His people. See Psalm 22:3. For God to release what He has in His hand, you must be able to get into His presence. Worship is the way you get into His presence.
From the passage we read, the priest was told to make a smoke which must be enough for him to be protected as the presence of God comes in. Tommy Tenney writes, “When you worship, you are “making smoke” as sweet incense, a favorite fragrance, to attract His presence… True worship makes enough smoke to allow you to draw close to Him”.
This is the New Testament way of making a smoke. We do not come with the blood of bull and goats again but we come with the heart of thanksgiving, thanking God for what He has done for us in Christ Jesus and for who He is.
The more you worship Him, the more He will draw closer to you because God loves a worshipper. The more He draws near to you, the more of His blessing you will receive. The choice is yours to worship Him or not to worship. I choose to worship.
Shalom.
Your Turn
- Get into the presence of the Father today as you make the smoke of worship.
- Appreciate Him for all He has done in your life and ask Him to send the rain of a new anointing on you.
