He Provides Sleep
Psalm 3:4; 127: 2
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep. (Psalm 127:2).
Lack of good sleep or sleepless nights happens to us from time to time. Sometimes it happens because we did not sleep well. At other times, it is health-related or we are troubled. Yet, I have heard some people say that they sleep less number of hours and they feel refreshed because they understood the covenant that they had with God as His beloved.
Recently, I have found a way to talk to God to help me with my sleep because God provides sleep. Psalm 127 alluded to this fact. It says that, “He gives His beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2). In another place the Scripture says, “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around” (Psalm 3:5-6). It means that God has something to do with our sleep.
God watches over us when we sleep to make sure that all goes well. Our God is good. Psalm 91 further makes us to understand that God protects us when we sleep and fights the enemy on our behalf.
Friend, think on these things. In case you are suffering from insomnia, I believe it is time for us to begin to take advantage of our access to God and ask Him to help us to sleep well. He will. Shalom.
