The Month Of Mercy

Ezekiel 39:25-29
Therefore thus says the Lord God, “Now I shall restore the fortunes of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of  Israel; and I shall be jealous for My holy name…” (Ezekiel 39:25, NASB).

This month shall be a month of mercy unto us. It is the month we will seek the face of the Lord as we present His word to Him to have mercy on us.

The Nelson’s Bible Dictionary describes mercy as “the aspect of God’s love that causes Him to help the miserable, just as grace is the aspect of His love that moves Him to forgive the guilty”. This definition helps us to better appreciate Ezekiel’s prophecy with regard to the restoration of the Israelites.

As a people, nation and race, we have been in misery caused by our sins through the violation of God’s law and by circumstances that was beyond our control. But prayer is not beyond our control. We can choose to pray. And God has promised to respond.

Because God is the Father of mercies, He is rich in mercy (See 2 Corinthians 1:3; Ephesians 2:4). He has enough mercy to go round, when we call on Him. We are confident He will answer us because we know that what we are asking for is not beyond our God. He is full of mercy. See James 5:11.

Friend, seek God’s mercy daily this month. You will experience His touch, grace and sense His smile on you. Your lost fortunes will be restored, new grounds and opportunities will also be open unto you. Shalom.
